Guru Poornima

The most auspicious occasion for the spiritual aspirants is this day. Disciples of an authentic Spiritual master, who is constantly showering the nectar of divine bliss on His followers, long for this day. Although one has to adore his master every moment of every day of life. Nevertheless we get a chance to express our gratitude towards His efforts of infusing that knowledge of the Vedas, which is, almost impossible for a human being to attain on his own accord.

Oh! He does so much for each follower!

1. He bends down to our level to lift us up from materialism to spiritualism.
2. He endears all mistreatment from the material beings without being concerned of His status and physical comforts.
3. He fights with our bad samskars and cuts them asunder.
4. He teaches the authentic way of practice of devotion. One can not take even a single step forward without the grace of the Spiritual Master. That’s why Aditi said in Padmpuran; (O Shri Krishna! Please give me darshan now if it is true that my devotion to my Guru is much more thriving than to You.)

So, how should we celebrate Guru Poornima?

Stay up whole night doing kirtan by heart to please your Guru. Decorate temple; make scrumptious food of His choice to offer in the morning. Wash his feet, smear sandal paste gently on His lotus feet and forehead (Do all this mentally if he is not there), Put a fragrant garland on his neck, bow down to Him, do His Aarti and lots of kirtan in ecstasy.

What gift should I offer to my Gurudev?

Everything we have is material. Nothing in the world is worth giving to Him. Hence give a gift of your firm resolution of following all His instructions wholeheartedly making no excuse at all. His adoration in this may make our Guru Poornima successful. Shri Maharaj says (complete surrender to the lotus feet of guru, is real celebration of Guru Poornima.)
